Retiree Connection

Northrop Grumman offers retirees medical coverage through the Northrop Grumman Retiree Medical Plan to employees who meet eligibility requirements. See below for information on how coverage works depending on whether you’re below age 65 (non-Medicare-eligible), or 65 and over (Medicare-eligible).

The Northrop Grumman Retiree Medical Plan provides medical and prescription drug coverage for retirees and their dependents who are under age 65*. The plan options include:

  • Plan 1: High Premium/Low Deductible Plan
  • Plan 2: Medium Premium/Medium Deductible Plan
  • Health Maintenance Organization (HMO): HMO availability is based on your home zip code.
  • TRICARE Supplement: The TRICARE Supplement provides active or retired military personnel additional benefits to their TRICARE Standard, Extra or Prime coverage.

If you are under age 65 and eligible for Medicare due to disability, you may also be eligible for:

  • Anthem Medigap-type plan option: The Medigap-type plan option is a Medicare supplement plan, similar to Medigap plans offered by private insurance companies, which helps pay some medical costs that aren't covered by Medicare (e.g., deductible for hospitalization and coinsurance for physicians' services.) You may elect the Anthem Medigap-type plan option with or without prescription drug coverage.

To enroll in the Northrop Grumman Medical Plan, call the Northrop Grumman Benefits Center at 800-894-4194.

*Retirees with certain retiree heritage classifications may still be eligible for medical and prescription drug coverage under the Northrop Grumman Retiree Medical Plan when they reach age 65.

If you are age 65 or older, Medicare will be your primary health insurance coverage and you have the option to purchase additional coverage to supplement Medicare.

Northrop Grumman has partnered with Via Benefits, a private insurance exchange, to help retirees understand and enroll in Medicare supplement coverage. If you are eligible for subsidized retiree medical coverage, you receive this support in the form of a Retiree Health Reimbursement Account (RHRA).The RHRA can be used for an individual supplemental plan, prescription drug, dental, vision, or Medicare Part B premiums.

To be eligible for the RHRA, you must elect a supplemental medical or prescription drug plan through Via Benefits. Contact Via Benefits at 855-832-0976 or at https://my.viabenefits.com/NGC for more information and to enroll.

(Exception: Kaiser will not allow retirees to enroll in a Kaiser Medicare supplemental plan through Via Benefits. Contact Via Benefits to learn how you can continue coverage through Kaiser and still receive the RHRA.)
